It’s time again for the annual JoCo Cruise! For those that don’t know, the JoCo cruise is a yearly event where a number of performers get together and go on a boat for a convention/event that is chocked full of Music, Comedy, Gaming, Authors, and generally frivolity. It has been sailing since 2011 and I have been involved with it since 2013. Around 2016(ish) I was hired on as an official photographer for the charter and have been shooting the event ever since.
The cruise involves quite a few concerts with some pretty big names:
A few of the highlights (for me at least) was meeting some great performers like Puddles Pity Party, Marc Evan Jackson, and shooting the big shows.
To the average attendee, this may look like a week long party, which it kinda is, but for me, it’s a lot of work doing something that I love doing. Getting out and taking great concert photos and meeting incredible people. It’s also the chance to get feedback from those who attend on a regular basis and hear how well I have been doing. I had a number of people mention seeing the photos from past cruises and how it may or may not enticed them to come on the current one.
This year I got to do something a little exciting and that was to bring the drone on the trip. We stopped over in Pureto Rico and Half Moon Cay where I got to take the drone out and do some photos and fly overs. The photos came out amazing and I am still working on the video.
One of the things I threw together just before the cruise was a video of all 11 years of sailing for the cruise. Granted, I was not around to take photos of the first two, so shots for those sailings came from Atom Moore who was involved back then. You can see that video on Youtube and here:
A big thanks goes out to Jonathan Coulton, Paul, Storm, and Drew for allowing me to come back each year and participate in the glorious madness.
